Each Ekadashi: Fast from sunrise, break on Dwadashi within the Parana window
Ekadashi falls twice every month — on the 11th day of both the waxing (Shukla Paksha) and waning (Krishna Paksha) phases of the moon. In 2026, there are 24 Ekadashi fasts, each with a unique name and special significance. Observing all Ekadashis in a year is said to grant moksha (liberation). Nirjala Ekadashi — observed without even water — is equivalent to observing all 24 Ekadashis combined.
Shukla Paksha. Blesses devotees with children and fulfills desires.
Krishna Paksha. Sesame offering destroys sins.
Shukla Paksha. Liberates from ghost and evil spirit afflictions.
Krishna Paksha. Lord Rama observed this before Lanka war. Grants victory.
Shukla Paksha. Worship of Amla tree. Gives moksha.
Krishna Paksha. Destroys all sins knowingly or unknowingly committed.
Shukla Paksha (Chaitra). Fulfills all desires.
Krishna Paksha. Fasting equivalent to donating gold and elephants.
Shukla Paksha. Lord Vishnu appears as Mohini. Destroys illusion.
Krishna Paksha. Removes sins of false accusations and grave offenses.

Krishna Paksha. Worship with Tulsi. Removes all sins.

There are 24 Ekadashi fasts in 2026 — two per month, one in Shukla Paksha and one in Krishna Paksha.
Nirjala Ekadashi (May 29, 2026) is the most powerful. Observing it without even water is said to be equivalent to all 24 Ekadashis.
Devshayani Ekadashi (June 27, 2026) marks the beginning of Chaturmas — the 4-month period when Lord Vishnu rests in cosmic sleep. Auspicious activities like marriages are avoided during Chaturmas.
Devutthana Ekadashi (October 23, 2026) marks Lord Vishnu's awakening from his 4-month sleep. It signals the start of the Hindu marriage season.
Most Ekadashis allow water — only Nirjala Ekadashi (May 29) requires a completely waterless fast. On regular Ekadashis, water, coconut water, and fruit juices are permitted.
